Litigation, Mediation, Arbitration & Dispute Resolution

Legal disputes can be costly, disruptive, and time-consuming. The goal is not simply to start a lawsuit, but to determine the most effective way to protect your interests and achieve a practical result.

We represent individuals, businesses, owners, shareholders, landlords, tenants, and other parties involved in disputes in New York State courts, from the initial evaluation of a dispute through negotiation, litigation, settlement, trial, and enforcement of judgments.

State Court Litigation

We assist clients in evaluating and pursuing claims and defenses in state court proceedings. This includes preparing and prosecuting lawsuits, defending claims, conducting discovery, motion practice, negotiating settlements, and pursuing matters through trial when necessary.

A lawsuit is not always the best first step. We evaluate the underlying dispute, the available evidence, the potential recovery, the cost of litigation, and the client’s objectives before determining an appropriate strategy.

Mediation

Mediation can provide an opportunity to resolve a dispute without the expense and uncertainty of a full trial. We help clients prepare for mediation, present their position, negotiate effectively, and evaluate proposed settlements.

Arbitration

Where a contract requires arbitration, or where the parties agree that arbitration is preferable to court litigation, we represent clients in arbitration proceedings and help develop an efficient strategy for resolving the dispute.

Negotiation & Alternative Dispute Resolution

Many disputes can be resolved before a lawsuit is commenced or before substantial litigation expenses are incurred. We negotiate directly with opposing parties and counsel and explore practical solutions that protect our client’s interests while avoiding unnecessary litigation.

Our Approach

Every dispute is different. We work with clients to understand what they are trying to accomplish and develop a strategy designed around the particular facts, economics, and objectives of the matter.
